Services

BauerCombs & Associates, Inc. offers rainwater collection design, installation, maintenance, and monitoring services for Santa Fe and surrounding communities.

Active Systems (rainwater collection stored in tanks)
• Above Ground Containment - Indoor & Outdoor use (potable / non-potable)
• Below Ground Containment - Indoor & Outdoor use (potable / non-potable)

Active systems typically have six basic components: Catchment Area (roof or impervious pavement); Conveyance (channels or pipes that transport water); Filter System (removes contaminants and debris); First Flush Device; Storage Tank; and Distribution (gravity or pump). If potable water is desired, a Purification System installed prior to the distribution is required.

Passive Systems (no storage tank needed)
• Landscape Swales
• Retention Basins
• Tree Wells
• Rain Gardens & Plant Selection
• Permeable Pavements

Passive systems are a more natural approach to rainwater collection by using swales, basins, infiltration cells, etc. Typically, water is collected and channeled by gravity and delivered to trees, plants, and ground covers. Increasing soil moisture to thirsty plants helps to reduce additional irrigation needs.

Design Consulting
BauerCombs works with property owners, architects, and engineers to design visual pleasing rainwater collection systems both active and passive. Artistic design, function, and quality are a high priority for every precious drop. Design packages include return on investment calculations, schematic drawings, technical specifications, equipment recommendations, material and quantity lists.

Design, Permit Applications, and Installation
BauerCombs provides complete design packages and on-site installation of rainwater collection systems for residential, commercial, and community projects. We provide return on investment calculations, alternative design approaches, system schematics, equipment recommendations and cost estimates. Prior to installation, permit applications are submitted and obtained in addition to informing clients on available government or municipality incentives.

Landscape Irrigation Consulting
BauerCombs provides landscape irrigation and planting design in conjunction with rainwater harvesting systems. It is important to establish a cohesive network of low-water plants (xeriscapes) along with low-water irrigation and on-site rainwater collection.

Why use rainwater?
Rainwater is a self-sufficient, low cost water supply.

By collecting rainwater you will be prepared for times of low rainfall. This is especially beneficial during water restrictions in your area. Happy plants = happy you.

By collecting rainwater you mitigate flooding potential, and as a result, reduce soil erosion.

Rainwater collection systems are easy to construct, operate, and maintain.

Potable rainwater may be connected to the house and used for laundry, toilet flushing, or even washing cars.

In some areas, there are economic advantages such as rebates and utility cost savings from local municipalities
