Forest Drive Residence
Client: Private Owner
Landscape Architect: Susan Combs-Bauer
Project Description: This design
integrated many site conditions to create a spacious retreat and useable
landscape. The design dealt with site challenges by stabilizing steep
slopes and subsoil conditions, by complementing the adjacent open space,
and by coordinating with the neighborhood association. In addition, BauerCombs
collected a team of professionals (structural engineer, geologist and
architect) for permit application requirements. The client wished to make
use of the narrow 12' x 72' backyard, improve the existing landscape and
incorporate a children's play area. The design maximized the narrow backyard
by providing an upper deck with spiral stairway and creating a spacious
patio below. Other landscaping elements included a mosaic patio, rock
stairway, trellises, lighting and stone pathways.
Level of Services: Site inventory
and assessment, preliminary and final master plan, landscape design, permit
applications, cost assessment, plans package (planting plan, plant list,
dimensions and grading plan, lighting plan, construction details, contractor's
bid package), and project implementation.
